MAFE Final 4

Welcome to the Middle Ages for Educators Sweet 16 Open Access Resource Competition, and thanks for stopping by! The competition is funded by Princeton University, with assistance from a Centennial Grant from the Medieval Academy of America.

The  public-facing tournament is now open, and will take place as follows:

  • ROUND 1, online: From December 3-29, 2024 viewers may cast their votes in the first round of play, featuring 8 head-to-head contests. The OARs with the highest number of votes will advance to the quarter finals.
  • ROUND 2 (Quarterfinals), online: From December 30, 2024-January 6, 2025, viewers may cast their votes in the quarter finals, featuring 4 head-to-head contests. The 4 winners of this round will win a cash prize and travel stipend to attend the Medieval Academy of America Centennial Meeting in Cambridge, MA.
  • ROUND 3 (Semifinals), online: From January 7-20, 2025, viewers may cast their votes in the semi-finals, featuring 2 head-to-head contests.
  • ROUND 4 (Finals), in person: After a screening of all four semi-finalist submissions at the Sweet 16 session of the MAA meeting on Thursday, March 20, at 3 pm, the 2 finalists will be announced and the final vote taken. 

    The Sweet 16 winner will be announced at the session and awarded the $1000 prize!
